Students enhance their understanding and aptitude of learning environments conducive to the emotional, cognitive, physical, and social development of young children. Students apply new knowledge in child development, health and safety, curriculum planning, and guidance techniques in various early care and education settings including the on-site preschool in their classroom, at their practicum sites, and in their communities. Opportunities to develop effective leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, and to support, facilitate, and evaluate early childhood settings through numerous assignment and performance tasks, are presented.

Dual Enrollments and Certifications

High school elective credits – 3

Thomas College- ED 110 (Professions in Early Childhood) – 3 credits

Opportunity to earn Certified Early Childhood Assistant (CECA) certification

Requirements

Junior or Senior standing.

• have a love of children

• be dependable and reliable

• reading lexiles for entry level occupational reading materials in the Education and Training field are 1320-1370

• have good communication skills and reading skills for the 1010 lexiled textbook.

This class meets on our Blue or White days.

It meets from 7:45 am to 12:00 pm.

It is a 3 period class.

You will earn 3 high school elective credits.
