Do you know which health care profession is right for you ?  The Exploring Health Care Professions class is designed to help answer these questions and will explore the career pathway that will guide you towards the right profession and the college or certification course you need to be successful.

This curriculum is designed to offer a foundation of knowledge and skills necessary to begin a path towards a health care career. Medical terminology, portfolio development, research skills, public speaking, job shadows, tours and guest speakers will allow the student to start visualizing themselves in the health care profession they choose. Dual Enrollments and Certifications

High school elective credits- 3

OSHA 10 Hour General Industry (Healthcare)

American Heart Association CPR & AED certification

Stop The Bleed Certification

Mandated Reporter for Child Abuse and Neglect

CMCC- MET 111 (Medical Terminology) – 3 credits

SMCC- HLTH 100 (Intro. to Health Science) – 3 credits

 

Requirements

Students should be juniors or seniors.

Read, comprehend and write at a 10th grade or higher level.

Strong science skills including biology and/or anatomy.

Have excellent attendance and interpersonal skills.

Be dependable and reliable, and have a genuine interest in health care.

Details

This class meets on our White days.

It meets from 7:45 am to 12:00 pm.

It is a 3 period class.

You will earn 3 high school elective credits.
