Firefighting

Firefighting is a two year course.  In this course students learn the science and behavior of fire as well as how to suppress it. Students will be trained in the causes of fire, how to fight fires and how to prevent them.  The curriculum, which is concurrent with the community college system, involves learning fire terminology, how to use personal protection equipment, and how to use fire tools such as ladders, hoses and hand tools.  Students will be able to earn a Firefighting I certification from the Maine Fire Service Institute as well as OSHA 10 certification.
