Education/ Development of Children @ EL
One year course
The Education/Development of Children Program is designed to provide students with knowledge and job skills for employment or further education in the field of early childhood and elementary education.
Students enhance their understanding and aptitude of learning environments conducive to the emotional, cognitive, physical, and social development of young children. Students apply new knowledge in child development, health and safety, curriculum planning, and guidance techniques in various early care and education settings including the on-site preschool in their classroom, at their practicum sites, and in their communities. Opportunities to develop effective leadership, communication, and teamwork skills, and to support, facilitate, and evaluate early childhood settings through numerous assignment and performance tasks, are presented.
The LRTC pre-school is a lab school run by LRTC’s Education & Development of Children program students.
Teacher Diane Rodrigue and Educational Technician Nicki Mercier provide support and opportunities for high school juniors and seniors to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities in our LRTC preschool.
This is an opportunity for families and future teachers to collaborate in an engaging and developmentally appropriate preschool classroom.
