Cosmetology @ EL

This two-year program allows students interested in the field of Cosmetology to begin their training by earning approximately 600 hours of the 1500 hours required for a Maine or New Hampshire Cosmetology license over the two years. These hours will transfer to post-secondary Cosmetology schools in the area and enable students to begin their studies with a portion of the program hours completed. Beginning with basic theory and advancing to practical skills, students will explore hair sculpting, color and perm design, as well as basic nail and skin applications. Students will practice their craft in a live salon environment where they will be responsible for day to day business operations and inventory control systems.

Beginning with theory studies that focus on the science, sanitation, and professionalism in the world of cosmetology. These future professionals will be able to learn the proper practical skills like cutting, coloring, and perming hair with supervised hands-on training in a salon-like atmosphere. Students will also be introduced to basic nail services and aesthetic services that are also part of having a cosmetology license. They will practice these skills on mannequins and after 200 hours students will be able to hone in on their craft with people in a real salon like environment where they will be responsible for day to day business operations, inventory control systems, and the safety and sanitation that a salon is required to follow.
