Sheet Metal & Welding

Forge your future with skills in sheet metal work and welding. This program offers hands-on experience in creating and assembling metal structures, preparing you for a variety of careers in a vital trade.

Sheet Metal & Welding

Students in the Sheet Metal/Welding Program will learn layout skills, fabrication skills, and participate in four types of welding activities. Mastery of these areas will prepare students for entry into the trades or post secondary education.

Welding 1
Students attending Sheet Metal and Welding are required to successfully master shop safety and proper tool use, prior to working on shop skills independently. Students will be introduced to SMAW, GMAW, GTAW and OXY-FUEL Welding, Sheet Metal layout and fabrication. Multiple assessments will be given, in the form of tests, quizzes and small projects.This will allow students to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.


Students enrolling in the Sheet Metal / Welding Program should...
Have a reading Lexile measure of 1220
Completed one year of Algebra
Completed one year of Geometry


Welding 2
Students will be re-assessed on shop and tool safety. They will be required to develop a professional development plan (PDP), to focus on the skills needed to be successful in their individual Sheet Metal & Welding career paths. Students will refine welding and fabrication skills acquired in Sheet Metal and Welding I, through the application of personal and shop projects.
