EMT @ EL
One year course
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program provides students with skills necessary to respond to emergency calls, provide efficient and immediate care to critically ill or injured persons and transport patients to a medical facility.
The EMT training program is an intensive one-year course that includes classroom and hands-on education. Students receive instruction in anatomy and physiology, patient assessment and emergency care.
Extensive reading and written work is required in this Southern Maine Community College 7-credit concurrent enrollment course. Upon successful completion of the course the student will be eligible to take the National Registry EMT written exam.
Passing the Registry exam will make the student eligible to obtain national certification and state licensing as an EMT.
Due to licensing restrictions, students must be 16 by the first day of class.
